FIRST FRUIT OFFERING
Giving Options
Sowing a first fruit offering is a biblical and spiritual principle practiced by many believers as an act of faith, gratitude, and honor toward God. The idea comes from scriptures such as Proverbs 3:9–10, which says:
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
-
To Honor God First
The first fruit symbolizes putting God first in every area of your life—especially in your finances or productivity. Giving the first part of what you receive is a way of saying, “God, You are my source and provider.”
-
An Act of Gratitude
It’s a way to thank God for bringing you into a new season—whether that’s a new year, a new job, a promotion, or any form of increase. It acknowledges that all blessings ultimately come from Him.
-
A Declaration of Faith
Sowing a first fruit offering demonstrates faith that God will bless and multiply the rest. The principle is that when the first is holy, the rest is blessed (see Romans 11:16). It’s a seed of expectation for future abundance.
-
A Covenant Practice of Blessing
In the Old Testament, offering the first portion of harvest connected the giver to divine blessing and protection over the remainder of their resources (see Exodus 23:19 and Ezekiel 44:30).
-
A Way to Break Financial Fear or Dependence
Giving your “first” can be a powerful spiritual act of breaking financial anxiety or self-reliance. It helps cultivate trust in God’s provision rather than relying solely on personal means.
